Our organization is led by a dedicated team passionate about art, culture, and community.

VANYA PETROVA

Co-Founder | Director | Creative Director & Lead Visual Arts Facilitator

Vanya Petrova is a founding Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada, where she combines her passion for Bulgarian culture with her expertise in visual arts, graphic design, and community engagement. As both a Director and Creative Lead, her role is developing programs and initiatives that celebrate Bulgarian heritage while strengthening connections within the Bulgarian-Canadian community.

Vanya also leads the development of the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada’s digital platform, which serves as a central hub for the Bulgarian community. The platform connects organizations, businesses, professionals, cultural groups, schools, churches, and community members while providing access to events, educational resources, volunteer opportunities, and community news.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts Education, a Master’s Degree in Engineering Design, and a Diploma in Graphic Design and Interactive Media. Her multidisciplinary background allows her to combine artistic creativity with design, technology, and community-focused communication.

Through her leadership, creativity, and dedication, Vanya is committed to preserving Bulgarian culture, supporting local artists and entrepreneurs, and creating opportunities that bring the Bulgarian community together across Canada.

ALEKSEY FILIPOV

Co-Founder | Director | Operations & Community Programs Director

Aleksey Filipov is a founding Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada, where he plays a key leadership role in planning, organizing, and delivering programs that bring the Bulgarian community together through culture, education, and shared experiences.

As the Center’s Operations and Community Programs Director, Aleksey oversees the logistical planning and coordination of cultural events, workshops, festivals, and community initiatives. He manages many of the operational aspects of the organization, including event logistics, equipment coordination, venue preparation, technical setup, and volunteer support.

As a Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada, Aleksey also contributes to the organization’s long-term vision by helping develop new community programs, cultural partnerships, and initiatives that promote Bulgarian heritage across Canada. He is committed to creating inclusive spaces where people can connect, celebrate traditions, and build lasting friendships.

Through his leadership, dedication, and enthusiasm for community engagement, Aleksey helps strengthen the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada’s mission of preserving Bulgarian culture while inspiring new generations to participate, learn, and celebrate together.

LIDIA SPRING

Co-Founder | Director | Community Engagement & Cultural Programs Coordinator

Lidia Spring is a founding Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Center Canada and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and connected Bulgarian community across Canada. As a member of the team, she helps guide the organization’s vision while supporting the development of cultural and community-based initiatives that celebrate Bulgarian heritage.

As the Center’s Community Engagement and Cultural Programs Coordinator, Lidia plays an important role in planning, organizing, and delivering workshops, festivals, family events, and cultural celebrations. She works closely with the team to ensure that every program is accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for participants of all ages and backgrounds.

Her dedication to community engagement extends beyond individual events. Lidia helps coordinate volunteers, supports event logistics, assists with program planning, and works closely with local organizations and community members to strengthen partnerships and expand opportunities for cultural participation throughout Canada.

Through her warmth, enthusiasm, and commitment to preserving Bulgarian heritage, Lidia helps create meaningful experiences that bring people together, strengthen community connections, and ensure that Bulgarian traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
